PHOTO ENGRAVERS’ DISPUTE
RISE OF 5/- A WEEK IN WAGES (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 27. A partial settlement was reached in the Dominion photo engravers’ industrial dispute held in the Conciliation Council today. It was agreed that wages should be increased by 5/- a week. A 40-hour week was agreed upon but the spread of hours was left in dispute and is referred to the Court of Arbitration. Annual holidays on full pay were agreed upon, but the period is to be referred to the Court. It was agreed that the wages clause should come into operation as from November 6 and all other conditions when the Court issues the award and that the term of the award should be until November 5, 1939.
