MEASLES IN COOK GROUP
NO DEATHS FROM EPIDEMIC (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 27. The correspondent of the United Press Association, writing from Rarotonga, says that Rarotonga and Aitutaki are the only islands of the Cook Group that now have measles cases. No deaths resulted from the epidemic. There are four cases under treatment at Rarotonga and three at Aitutaki. The total number of cases to date in the different islands is as follows:—Rarotonga, 686; Aitutaki, 51; Atiu, 35; Penrhyn, 114; Manihiki, one. The schooner Tui Cakau, under charter to the Government, left Suva recently to visit the northern islands nf the Cook Group to remove persons suffering from leprosy to Makogai. From Manihiki eight persons suffering from leprosy were removed. One was taken from Rakahanga and 34 from Penrhyn. The schooner exects to return to Suva about the end of October.
