LONDON TO YORK ON HORSEBACK
NEW ZEALANDER TO MAKE ATTEMPT ON RECORD LONDON, September 29. A New Zealand stud farmer, longdistance runner, and horseman, Mr George Newton Bell, has returned to Nottinghamshire, after an absence of nearly 15 years. Mr Bell, it is reported, has come mainly to buy pedigree cattle for . New Zealand, but in addition he intends to attempt to break the Lon-don-York horseback record. On the occasion of his last visit Mr Bell completed the journey in four days on an English hunter, returning to London in nine hours under that time. Since his absence in New Zealand this record has again been broken, and it is his object to regain it. He Will use a Yorkshire Dale pony. Mr Bell said that if he is successful he intends to challenge Aime Tshiffely, described as the toughest horse-rider in England, and Tom Mix to an endurance test for any distance.
