Service Interrupted A motor-car accident near Timaru was responsible for an interruption in the telegraphic service to Invercargill last night. A car crashed into a telegraph pole and broke the power l lr \ e - The service was interrupted at 8.46 and for about an hour and a-half the teleprinters in the Invercargill telegraph office received no messages from further north than Dunedin. The telegraph office proposed to use an emergency radio set in the telegraph yard mainly for the purpose of receiving messages from Wellington but the service was resumed before the set was put into operation.
Slight Frost There was a frost of four degrees in Invercargill yesterday morning. Several crops of potatoes and beans suffered a setback.
Boys’ Brigade Parade “The boys who took part in The Boys’ Brigade parade -in Invercargill on Sunday were up to the standard of any of the boys in New Zealand and even in England.” This remark was made at the meeting of the Dominion executive of The Boys’ Brigade yesterday by the inspecting officer at the parade, Mr J. K. McDonald.
