GRANDSTAND DESTROYED BY FIRE

PALMERSTON NORTH, October 24. The Foxton Racing Club’s main grandstand was totally destroyed by fire last night. The cause of the outbreak is unknown. The outbreak was discovered at 9 p.m. but the brigade was powerless and the building was a total loss by 10.20 p.m. There was only a one-inch water pipe and no hydrant. During the day a sports meeting was held when tearooms bexusaih the building were used.
