Motor-Car And Lorry Collide CHILDREN SUFFER FROM SHOCK / r (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 23. Two people were killed when their motor-car collided head on with a lorry on the Main road, about six miles north of Te Kuiti, on Saturday evening. The victims were: KILLED Thomas James Dixon (driver of the car), saw miller, of Horokino, near Mangapehi, aged 29, married with two children. . , ... Margaret Ellen Dixon (wife of the driver), aged about 28. INJURED Robert Dixon (brother of the driver). —Broken nose and minor injuries. A son and daughter of Mr and _ Mrs Dixon, aged six and nine respectively, were also in the car. They and a fnena. Myrtle Marie Budd, aged 15, suffered shock. The driver of the lorry, Ronald Thomas Adamson, of Karioi, near Ohakune, escaped injury. The car, whose occupants were returning from a visit to relations at Hangatiki, was travelling south when the accident occurred and had just come out of a bend on to a straight stretch of road when it collided with the lorry travelling in the opposite direction. The leading end of the tray of the lorry struck the windscreen of the car on the driver’s side and tore through it from end to end. Mr and Mrs Dixon, who were seated on the right-hand side of the car were decapitated. After the impact, the car continued for about 100 feet along the road and came to rest on the left hand side, at right angles to the road. The lorry was pulled up within a short distance. Mrs Dixon was thrown on to the road, and Dixon was hurled into the back seat. TRUCK CAPSIZES YOUNG MAN AND INFANT NEPHEW KILLED (United Press Association) BLENHEIM, October 23. A young man and his infant nephew are dead as the result of a light motortruck capsizing in Opawa street on the outskirts of the borough at 8 o’clock this morning. The child, who was removed from the crushed cab with terrible injuries, succumbed shortly after he was taken to hospital.

COLLISION NEAR IRON BRIDGE MOTORIST’S JAW BROKEN A collision on Saturday night between two cars on a narrow bridge on the Riverton road, on the Invercargill side of the Iron Bridge, resulted in the driver of one of the cars, Allan McGregor, aged 26, of 51 Chapman street, Invercargill, being admitted to the Southland hospital with lacerated wounds on the face and a fractured jaw. The driver of the other car was John Colvin, of Invercargill. Passengers in both of the cars suffered cuts and bruises, but were able to go to their homes. McGregor’s car was capsized by x the impact, and the other car was pushed down a bank. MOTOR-CYCLIST INJURED William McDowell, a traveller for Tappers Ltd. (Invercargill), while motor-cycling through Cardrona, in the Lakes District, on Saturday, had an accident in which he suffered a broken thigh. He was taken by a passing motorist to Pembroke where he received medical treatment, and was then taken to the Cromwell hospital. FRACTURED COLLARBONE Stewart Neill Marshall, aged 15, of 94 Princes street, was admitted to the Southland Hospital yesterday suffering from a fractured collarbone. WOMAN KILLED IN MOTOR ACCIDENT (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 23. Katherine Logan, aged 44, a daughter of Mrs M. E. Logan, 189 The Terrace, Wellington, was killed in a motor accident at Petone at 6.15 p.m. on Saturday. Miss Logan was a passenger in car driven by Daniel Hope, a tally clerk, of Pinehaven, Silverstream. The car failed to negotiate a bend after crossing an overhead bridge north of the Petone station and crashed down a short, steep bank. Miss Logan suffered severe head injuries. Hope was not injured.
