THE WEATHER FAIR TO FINE
(Special to '-he Times) WELLINGTON, October 23. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland, issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Light variable winds with southerly predominating. Weather fair to fine. A mild day, but a cold night, with frosts. Seas slight Following is the Dominion forecast:— Misty rain in places along the east coast north of Christchurch, and some passing showers in western districts north of Taranaki., Otherwise, weather fair to fine. Temperatures becoming cooler over the North Island, and cold tonight in the South Island, with frosts inland.
Milder tomorrow. General Situation—A depression has been crossing the central portion of the Dominion, and is being followed by an anti-cyclone which is centred at present in the mid-Tasman Sea. Winds.— South-westerly over- the northern portion of the North Island, otherwise southerly to south-easterly. Force, light in the far south, otherwise mainly moderate, but strong in parts of the east coast between Akaroa and East Cape. Seas.—New Zealand waters, rather rough, but decreasing north of Farewell Spit. Otherwise, dight to moderate, but rising between Kaikoura and East Cape. Eastern Tasman Sea, moderate southerly to south-westerly winds and moderate seas.
