A meeting of National Party -upporters at Woodlands on Thursday evening decided to send a telegram of congratulation and good wishes to Mr John Irving, of Masterton, who is standing as the National candidate in that electorate. Mr Irving is the eldest son of Mr and Mrs A. Irving, The Ridges, Woodlands. He lived in the district until his departure for active service in the Great War. On his return he found that war injuries would not permit a return to farming and after a short period with a commercial firm in Invercargill he left for a more responsible position in Masterton. At the investiture at Government House on Wednesday evening, when the Governor-General (Lord Galawy) conferred honours Mr Irving was presented with the Efficiency Decoration.
