GOOD HARVESTS IN WHEAT COUNTRIES

SURPLUS NEARLY EQUAL TO

YEAR’S DEMAND

(Received September 9, 7.50 p.m.) CANBERRA, September 9. , The Commonwealth Statistician (Dr Roland Wilson) announces good harvests in practically all the wheatgrowing countries, which this year are expected to produce a surplus of about 480,000,000 bushels—nearly equivalent to one year’s demand. In Australia the area sown in wheat this year was 14,000,000 acres, which is slightly more than last year.
