MAGISTRATE’S COURT
MONDAY (Before Mr R. C. Abernethy, S.M.) A statutory first offender on a charge of drunkenness was convicted and fined £1 and ordered to pay 2/- taxi hire. On a charge of being in arrears with a maintenance order to the extent of £l5 to April 25, George Sheedy (Niagara) was sentenced to one month s imprisonment, warrant to be suspended on payment of 10/- a week off the arrears. John Francis Magneil (Hurunui) was sentenced to six weeks’ imprisonment on a charge of being in arrears with maintenance to the extent of £94 19/— to April 22, the warrant to be suspended on payment of £2 1/- a week. William James Reynolds (Christchurch) was ordered to pay £lO 18/arrears of maintenance in default one month’s imprisonment, warrant to be suspended on payment of 2/6 a week off the arrears plus current maintenance. On a charge of being in arrears with maintenance to the extent of £6 11/- to April 25, Patrick Francis O’Brien (Kelso) was ordered to pay £2 11/forthwith in default 14 days’ imprisonment. , , Joseph Phillips (Woodend) was ordered to pay 8/- a week for the maintenance of two children in a State institution. . An order was made for the immediate payment of £lB 8/6 arrears of maintenance by James Henry Ferguson McColgan (Niagara) in default one months imprisonment
