EGYPT INTERESTED IN SUEZ CANAL
VOICE IN TALKS WITH ITALY DEMANDED (Received February 26, 1 a.m.) CAIRO, February 25. Egypt demands a voice in any AngloItalian discussions about the Suez Canal, about which the Prime Minister Mahmoud Pasha, is seeing the British High Commissioner, . Sir Miles Lampson today. He will direct the attention,of Sir Miles to Article VI of the Anglo-Egyptian treaty which says: “Should any dispute with a third State produce a situation involving a risk of rupture with the State, the high contracting party will consult with a view to settlement by peaceful means in accordance with the League Covenant and any of her international obligations applicable to the case.”
