POPE CONFERS HONOUR ON ENGLISH BISHOP
DR AMIGO RAISED IN RANK (Received February 25, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, February 25. The Pope conferred an unusual honour on the Bishop of Southwark (Dr Peter Amigo) on the golden jubilee of his ordination. Dr Amigo is raised to the rank of archbishop and will bear the title of Archbishop of Southwark. The dignity is personal and makes no difference to Dr Amigo’s jurisdiction.
