ANNUAL MEETING
ST. JOHN’S SCHOOL OLD GIRLS’ ASSOCIATION At the anpual meeting of St. Johns Girls’ School Old Girls’ Association yesterday afternoon, the president, Mrs A. V. Osmond, took the chair. In her report the president stated that during the year two social evenings were held at the homes of different members and these were fairly well attended. The bazaar was held as usual in November, but owing to need for extra funds for the school,_ the association had offered to forfeit its share of the proceeds, though the members had given their assistance. The annual dinner was held on the evening of the bazaar. Last year a volley-board was given to the school and was greatly appreciated.
The balance-sheet showed a good balance in the bank, and it and the report were adopted. It was decided to present a trophy for annual competition at the swimming sports of the school, and a miniature to be kept bv the winner each year. The actual event to which the cup was to be allocated was to be decided in collaboration with the sports mistress. At the annual meeting of the board of management of the school it was announced that additions had to be made to the volley-board given by the association, and it was decided that < le association would pay for them. It was also decided that the annual dinner and meeting be held, as formerly on the night of the bazaar. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Miss Molly Girdler; vice-presidents, Mrs G. F. Tobin and Mrs G. C. Broughton; hon. secretary and treasurer, Miss Jessie Tapper; committee, Mrs A. V. Osmond and Misses Elsa Johnston, Dorothy Watts and Elizabeth Hoyles.
Misses Gertrude Macdonald and Joyce Gilmour were granted leave of absence for a year.
