LABOUR GAINS SEAT IN BRITAIN
BY-ELECTION AT IPSWICH

LONDON, February 17. Labour gained a seat as a result of the by-election at Ipswich made necessary by the elevation of Sir Francis Ganzoni to the peerage. The by-elec-tion resulted: R. Stokes (Labour) 27,604 H. Willink (National Conservative) 24,443
At the general election in 1935 the Ipswich constituency voted as follows: Sir Francis Ganzoni (Conservative) 28,528 R. F. Jackson (Labour) 21,278
