WETHINGTON—TUFFLEY The wedding was solemnized at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church recently of Doris Irene, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs E. Tuffley, McMaster street, to Charles James, eldest son of Mr T. Withington, Earn street. The church was decorated by friends of the bride and the Rev. E. Gardiner performed the ceremony. Mr N. Armstrong played the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of cream rosepatterned lace over cream satin. It was made on slim fitting lines, and flared from the knees to form a train. The bodice had a cowl neck caught at each side with orange blossom, and cherry buttons fastened the back to the waistline. The sleeves were puffed to the elbow and finished in long tight cuffs to the wrists. Her embroidered tulle veil fell from a halo of pearls and was caught at each side with orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of cream roses and asparagus fern. As the bride left the church she was presented with a horseshoe by Pat Walker.

The bridesmaids, Miss Edna Bagrie and Miss Eva Withington, sister of the bridegroom, wore floral frocks of Marina blue cut on similar lines to the bride’s frock. They wore silver

sandals and their head-bands were of pink and blue roses to match their frocks. They carried bouquets of pink roses and asparagus fern. The best man was Mr J. Earl, cousin of the bridegroom, and Mr W. Withington, brother of the bridegroom, was groomsman. Mr N. Dixon and Mr B. Eastlake were ushers. The reception was held at the Country Club, where Mrs Tuffley, assisted by Mrs Tait, sister of the bridegroom, received the guests. Mrs Tuffley wore a nigger brown costume with accessories, and fur stole and shoulder spray to match. Mrs Tait wore a brown silk frock and a checked jacket with a wide biscuit-coloured straw hat and a shoulder spray to match. For travelling the bride wore a navy blue costume and accessories to match, and a brown fur stole. Before the wedding the bride was entertained at a kitchen evening by Miss Edna Bagrie.

Chisholm, Strathgloss, Pleasant Point, South Canterbury. The Rev. William Tanner performed the ceremony and Miss Marjorie Kennedy played the organ. The church was decorated by friends of the bride. The bride, who was given, away by her father, wore a gown of bi-Faconne satin. It was cut on fitting lines with panels back and front, and finished with loops and buttons from the neckline to the end of the train. The square neck was finished with orange blossom at each side, and the long tight sleeves, which formed a peak over the hands, had loops and buttons from wrist to elbow. The embroidered tulle veil, which formed a long train, was caught on the top of the head with a cluster of orange blossom, and she carried a sheaf of regal lillies and asparagus fern. . ~ There were four bridesmaids, Misses Sylvia Brown, Phyllis and Noeline Young and Shona Chisholm. They wore frocks of dull lace in shades of pink and blue. Tire skirts were inset with godets to give. fullness, and the panels of granite satin down the front were edged with a rucking of net which continued round the hemline.' The former wore a navy floral frock, trimmed with beige pleating, under a navy coat and straw hat with accessories to match. Her shoulder spray was of gold abutilons and fem. The bridegroom’s mother was dressed in a wine frock under a fitting three-quar-ter coat with navy hat and accessories. She wore a shoulder spray of pink carnations. For travelling the bride wore a floral green frock under a redingote of bottle green. Her halo toque was trimmed with an eye-veil, and her accessories were bottle green. Before her marriage the bride was presented by the North Invercargill Sunday School teachers with a silver cake dish and fork. She was entertained at a crystal afternoon by Mrs J. M. Mackintosh, at a pantry evening by Miss S. Brown, at a kitchen evening by Miss P. Young, at a china evening by Mrs A. W. Halliday, Waitane, and by the residents of Glencoe and Hedgehope at a gift evening. Mr and Mrs F. Chisholm will live at the schoolhouse, Fortrose, Southland.
