TRIBUTE TO LORD RUTHERFORD
“NEW ZEALAND RABBIT WHO BURROWS DEEP”
(Received January 14, 5.5 p.m.)
LONDON, January 13. The company at the New Zealand University dinner stood as a silent tribute to Lord Rutherford of Nelson whose interest in New Zealand postgraduate students was unfailing. A New Zealander, Doctor Comrie, superintendent of the Nautical Almanac Office, recalled that when Lord Rutherford first went to Cambridge he asked such searching questions that the Dons said: “Here is a New Zealander rabbit who burrows very deep.”
