FALSE FIRE ALARMS IN DUNEDIN
TOTAL OF 79 LAST YEAR (United Press Association) DUNEDIN, January 12. When Alfred James Smart pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court to six charges of giving false alarms of fires the police stated that there had been 79 such alarms in the past year. Accused, howeverj could not be connected with others than those mentioned on the charge. Smart, a man on sustenance, blamed drink for his conduct. He was remanded until Monday for the probation officer’s report
