Varying prices charged for petrol in New Zealand were discussed at a meeting of the general council of the Automobile Association (Canterbury). Mr W F. Harley, of Greymouth, complained that petrol on the West Coast cost 2/3 and 2/4 a gallon. Some members suggested that a universal ynce should be fixed. After a long discussion it was decided that, in the interests of districts removed from the main centres, the Government be urged to investigate fully the complaints of districts which held that petrol costs were not equitable through the imposition of an unfair proportion of transport and other charges.
