RIVERTON DISTRICT

The annual break-up of the Riverton District High School was held in the school hall. There was a moderate attendance of parents. Mr Thomas Borland, chairman of the school committee, in addressing the children, congratulated the successful prize-winners on their splendid efforts during the year. The students work was of a high standard, and he felt sure that with the capable teaching methods adopted by the present staff this standard would be maintained. Mr Borland, as chairman of the directorate of the Riverton Centenary Celebrations, spoke to the pupils on the significance of the centenary. The Mayor (Dr N. G. Trotter), in addressing the pupils, said he had always taken a keen interest in the education of the young people of the community, and was pleased to note that the modern methods of educating school children were efficient and satisfactory.
