OVERHEAD BRIDGES
To The Editor Sir,—After the recent sad fatality at West Plains, I sincerely hope the Tory members of the Farmers’ Union will see the necessity of saving human lives and stop criticizing the best and most humane Minister of Public Works New Zealand has ever had, or is ever likely to have. Surely our Opposition members of Parliament, and their farmer friends can do something nobler than trying to make Party capital at the cost of human lives. If they would think of their duty to God and man, they would at least be silent about the noble work carried on by the Hon. R. Semple, if they cannot assist him in his efforts to save human lives.—Yours, etC " FARMER. December 20, 1937.
