FLYING-BOAT DUE ON MONDAY
WELCOME TO CREW OF CENTAURUS RECEPTION ARRANGED BY HARBOUR BOARD (Special to The Times) AUCKLAND, December 21. Arrangements for official welcomes to the personnel of the Imperial Airways flying-boat Centaurus, following its expected arrival at Auckland from Sydney on Monday, were announced by the chairman (the Hon. T. Bloodworth, M.|L.C.), at a meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board. He said the Centaurus was expected to reach Auckland at 4 pun., but no definite advice had yet been received.
Mr Bloodworth said a stand and enclosure would be provided near the landing at Mechanics Bay to accommodate invited guests for the official welcome. In the evening a civic reception would be tendered to the officers and crew by the Mayor (Sir Ernest Davis) at the Town. Hall and on Tuesday the harbour board would entertain them at luncheon. It was not yet known when the Pan American Airways clipper would arrive from San Francisco, but it had been stated that regular flights would be begun in December. It would no doubt be the wish of the board that the inauguration of the service should be fittingly marked upon the arrival cf the Clipper in Auckland.
