BOYS’ BRIGADE

ANNUAL INSPECTIONS

HAVERSACK)

(By

Captains of companies are reminded that the annual statistical return schedule is due to be sent in not later than December 10. It is on the figures on these forms that the year book of the New Zealand Dominion Council is based. Captains are asked to complete the return at the earliest possible moment. Delay on the part of one company causes the holding up of the annual report and involves the battalion secretary in additional work and expense. 8.8. companies at this time of the year are showing at the annual company inspection the results of the work of the winter session, and as soon as the inspection is over, the summer programme should be under way. And so the days will slip quickly past until we hear that joyous bugle call that sounds the “fall-in” for camp. We hope that the opportunity will be given to every 8.8. boy this summer to spend his holidays in the happy comradeship of a boys’ brigade carnp. It is in camp more than anywhere else that officers and boys really get to know each other well. We cast aside much of the veneer of our ordinary life when we discard collars and ties. The running of a camp proceeds smoothly if real discipline has been achieved during the session. Great as the physical benefits are, the most lasting effect of a 8.8. camp is to be found in the moral and spiritual blessing from a good camp, which will influence a boy’s character for the rest of his life. Next week full details of the Kaka Point camp will appear. 7TH INVERCARGILL COMPANY The 7th Invercargill Company held its close-of-session parade recently. The company, under Captain E.
