Mr W. R. Nairn returned from Dunedin by the express last evening. General Sir Reginald Pinney, who is now in Australia, is coming to New Zealand to visit his son. He commanded the 33rd and 35th Divisions in France.
Dr E. Markham Lee, of the Associated Board of the Royal Academy of Music (London) arrived in Invercargill last evening and is staying at the Grand Hotel. He conducted exammations at Gore yesterday afternoon. Mr G. H. Bourne, manager of the Bank of New South Wales in Christchurch for the last 18 months, has received notice of his transfer to Queensland. He will be succeeded in Christchurch by Mr R. M. Wolfe, from one of the Sydney branches.
Mr J. G. Greeninger, consul for the United States, was elected dean of the Auckland Consular Corps at a meeting of members. He will succeed M Edouard Joubert, formerly consul for France. Professor R. M. Algie, consul for Czechoslovakia, was appointed deputy-dean and Mr Norman Heath, consul for Latvia, secretary.
Mr A. Fels, head of the foreign trade department of the Warsaw Chamber of Commerce, is to visit New Zealand. He is at present in Australia and will be there for two or three months. His intention is to study conditions in New Zealand and in Australia with a view to bringing about increased trade with Poland.
