AUSTRALIA REVERTS TO TARIFFS
LICENSING SYSTEM TO BE ABANDONED CANBERRA, December 8. The Minister for Customs (Mr T. W. White) announced in the House of Representatives that the Government would abandon the licensing system on which its trade diversion policy was based and would revert to the use of a tariff to protect Australian industries.
