Gene Sarazen, the famous American golfer, always maintained that the secret of golf was in the hands. In his breezy manner he says: “The hands are the generals of golf, and they lead the parade.” There is at least one player who will agree with Sarazen, and that is D. R. S. Bader, a young member of the North Hants (England) Golf Club He has two artificial legs, yet he is on a 12 handicap, and often wins club events. Bader uses neither stick nor crutch, but he is able to get round a course in less time than the average player. Although he cannot rely on leg or hip action in his swing, Bader is able to get excellent length in his drives. He has often hit a tee shot 250 yards, a feat of which any golfer would be proud.
