PUKERAU
FAREWELL TO POSTAL ' OFFICIAL DEPARTURE FOR DUNEDIN The Pukerau hall was filled when Mr T. O’Hagen, who has been a member of the staff of the Post Office at Pukerau for the past eight years, and who has been transferred to Dunedin, was tendered a farewell social and dance. Mr A. P. McDonald presided and presented Mr O’Hagan with a wristlet watch and a roll of notes from the residents of Pukerau and surrounding districts. Mr O’Hagan, he said, had been a most courteous and obliging postal official, and would, he felt sure, rise rapidly in the service. He had taken a prominent part in sport and his departure would be a severe loss to the football team. Other speakers were Messrs A. Herron and J. Osborne, the postmaster. Music for the dance was played by Messrs G. Styles and R Young. Mr D. McNab was master of ceremonies. THE WEATHER The recent showers have freshened the pastures, and the early sown root crops have received a good start. The dairymen, however, would prefer a heavier downpour to stimulate a flush of feed. The rainfall for November amounted to 2.08 in, which brings the year’s total to date to 41.31 in.
