BALLROOM DANCING NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONS An exhibition of ballroom dancing was given in the Town Hall by Mr L. McKee and Miss Flossie Simon, • of Wellington, who were recently awarded first place in a New Zealand championship competition held in Wellington. The competition carried with it a free trip to Australia for the winning couple and they will represent New Zealand at the Australasian ballroom dancing championship in Melbourne. Miss Simon, who is a daughter of Mrs E. Parker, of Bluff, and Mr McJKee left by the Maunganui for Melbourne. PERSONAL Sergeant H. Hogg, of Dunedin, who is on holiday leave, has been staying at Bluff, where he was stationed before being transferred to Kaitangata and later to Dunedin. He left Bluff yesterday to visit relatives in Mataura. Mr E. Bremer, of Greenhills, who has been appointed to the meat inspection branch of the Department of Agriculture, will leave today for Auckland to take up his duties. WARM WEATHER After the break in the weather on Sunday there was a return to warm, dry weather and yesterday was fine, with alternating cloud and sunshine. The Harbour Board’s gauge registered 32 points for Sunday’s fall of rain but further rain is needed for gardens.
