BELGIAN PRINCE’S LONDON VISIT

RUMOUR OF ENGLISH FIANCEE

OFFICIAL DENIAL FROM BRUSSELS

(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright)

(Received December 6, 8.15 p.m.) LONDON, December 6.

Most of the English newspapers give prominence to a suggestion that Prince Charles of Belgium, brother of King Leopold, will announce his engagement to Lady Ann Cavendish-Bentinck. Prince Charles arrived unobtrusively in London yesterday. King Leopold’s secretary has issued the following statement from Brussels: “Absolutely fantastic rumours are being circulated once again on the occasion of the King’s visit to England. None has any foundation for any members of the Royal Family.” Reports that an announcement _ is imminent of the engagement of King Leopold were authoritatively described as untrue after the arrival of King Leopold, his mother and Prince Charles at Dover. They said that the visit was private. King Leopold is suffering from a chill and a sore throat and was unable to attend Mass at St. Mary’s Church, Worksop, as he intended. Prince Charles arrived at Victoria station so unobtrusively that the police guard did not discover him before he departed in a taxi.
