SESSION TO END BY FRIDAY

Summer Recess For Parliament LEGISLATION YET TO COME (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, December 6. The legislation remaining to be dealt with before the end of the present half of the session was outlined by the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) in an interview this evening. Mr Savage made it clear that the House of Representatives would rise by Friday of this week and stated that if some of the less important Bills had not been passed by then they would have to wait until the House resumed early in the New Year. Mr Savage said that the Appropriation Bill would be introduced tomorrow night and would be dealt with in conjunction with the Supplementary Estimates. The State Advances Corporation Amendment Bill would make an early appearance, its purpose being to make a small alteration to the housing reference in the Act. Another Bill would provide for coordination of the administration of the two Agricultural Colleges, Massey and Lincoln, and there would possibly be another confirming the agreement between the Government and the farmers on farm labour. There would also be a Bill confirming regulations made under the Agriculture (Emergency Powers) Act. It was also possible that a measure would be introduced, making it necessary for all dog owners to be provided with a quantity of hydatids antidote. “We will have a Bill dealing with the acquisition of land for the purpose of a legislative and administrative centre about Parliament Buildings,” Mr Savage said. “Then we will have v. measure making it clear that employer!' will not have to pay for the King’s Birthday twice in one year. There will also be a Health Bill with special reference to hospitals, and a Bill governing the constitution of the Greymouth Harbour Board, but it is possible that these two will not be passed before the recess. There are several local Bills on the Order Paper, as well as the Local Legislation Bill which validates the expenditure and various transactions of local bodies.’’ The Prime Minister indicated that before the session closed this week he would announce the date .of the resumption of Parliament in the New Year. _____
