(Received December 4, 6.30 p.m.) JOHANNESBURG, December 3. South Africa’s athletes who will compete at the Empire Games at Sydney are in excellent form. Lavery covered the 120 yards hurdles in 14.2 sec (a South African record) and won the 100 yards in 9.9 sec. Shore at another meeting won five events, including the 100 yards in 9.9 sec., the 440 yards in 50.1 sec., the halfmile and the long jump (21ft 71in).
