FOSSILIZED CRAB IN LONDON CLAY
DEPOSITS BELIEVED TO BE 50 MILLION YEARS OLD (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, October 29. A fossilized crab was unearthed during excavation work on the Highgate tube extension, at a depth of approximately 86ft of London clay of the Eocene period—the earliest of the four divisions of the Tertian, era. Calculation suggests that the London clay was deposited some 50,000,000 years ago.
