A disgruntled client shot at and killed a former Assistant AttorneyGeneral, Mr Elliott, of Illinois, stabbed in the abdomen another lawyer, and injured two stenographers. He then surrendered to the police. Mr Elliott was preparing to summons his assailant in a suit for damages (10,000 dollars) at the time of the killing.

Later the assailant explained that he was dissatisfied with the manner _in which the lawyers were managing claims against his property, and blamed them for dissipating a fortune of 60,000 dollars.
