WEDDING

SELWYN—FRAMPTON Spring flowers and ribbons decorated St. Andrew’s Church, South Invercargill, for the marriage on the morning of Wednesday, August 25, of Irene Annie, youngest daughter of Mrs A. G. Frampton and the late Mr Frampton, Earn street, to Joffre Richmond, eldest son of Mr and Mrs W. R. Selwyn, Tweed street. The Rev. E. Gardiner performed the ceremony, and Mr Len Jones played the organ. The bride was given away by her eldest brother, Mr George Frampton, and she wore a frock of rose petal pink ripple crepon. The frock was closely fitting, and the skirt finished in a deep flare. The neckline was high, and was finished with pink flowers. The sleeves were buttoned from elbow to wrist to match the row of buttons at the back of the bodice, and a wide sash, tying in a bow at the back, encircled the waistline. Her pink tulle veil fell from a halo of orange blossom, and her bouquet was of pink carnations and maidenhair fern.

Miss Mary Skeoch was bridesmaid, and her frock of nil green navora crepe was made on similar lines to the V'ide’s frock, but it was ruched at the shoulders and neckline, and the elbowlength full sleeves were caught' into long matching mittens. She wore a spray of pink carnations and silver leaves in her hair, and carried a bouquet of the same flowers. The flower girl, Joyce Frampton, niece of the bride, wore a frock of lemon floral triple ninon made with a short tight bodice, puff sleeves and a long skirt flared from the waist. She wore lemon flowers and silver leaves in her hair, and her bouquet was to match.

Mr Keith Selwyn, brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and Messrs W. and L Frampton were ushers. The reception was held in the Tudor Lounge, where Mrs Frampton and Mrs Selwyn received the guests. The former wore a black costume with a white satin blouse, a black baku straw hat and a fur stole. Her shoulder spray was of freesias and maidenhair fern. Mrs Selwyn wore a frock of navy blue floral crepe-de-chine with coat and hat to match and a shoulder spray of violets and maidenhair fern.

For travelling the bride wore a frock of navy blue ripple crepon under a navy coat. Her toque of the same colour was finished with an eye veil, and her accessories were to match.

Mr and Mrs J. R. Selwyn will live in Morton road.

Before her marriage the bride was given a linen afternoon by her cousin, Mrs E. Hawke, a cup and saucer afternoon by her sister-in-law, Mrs W. Frampton, a gift afternoon by Mrs JMillar, and a kitchen evening by her sister-in-law, Mrs G. Frampton. The wedding cake was made by the bride’s aunt, Mrs W. Penny.
