REPERTORY SOCIETY

“THE BLACK EYE’ FOUR-NIGHT SEASON The Invercargill Repertory Society has decided to extend its season to four nights, beginning on Saturday, to give die public an opportunity of seeing the attractive London success, “The Black Eye.” The name is intriguing and so is the play. It keeps the audience curious about what unexpected scene is to entertain them next, what new development of the plot is to bring the final solution nearer. There is a remarkable variety of characters, from the severe but likeable Scottish father, played by Mr A. McCarthy, to his young and irresponsible son George, in which part Mr E. Furby will make his debut as a

principal. Mrs McCaw is again acting for the society. She is well cast in a part which gives full scope to her fine sense of the stage and her attractive and characteristic sense of humour. The remaining parts in the big cast of 18 characters are being taken by players who have proved their ability in previous three-act and one-act plays. The box plan is at H. and J. Smith’s.
