LEVEL CROSSING SMASH
DEATH OF COMMERCIAL TRAVELLER (United Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, June 16. At the inquest on Harold Rupert Harris, aged 51 years, a commercial traveller, of Auckland, who received fatal injuries in a level crossing smash at North Manakau on May 12, evidence was given that deceased slowed down when approaching the crossing, appeared to hesitate and then accelerated, the train striking the rear of the vehicle. A verdict that death was due to shock and multiple injuries sustained in a collision between his car (nd a train was returned.
