MAN FOUND LYING ON WHARF
NO RECOLLECTION OF BEING ASSAULTED (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 16. The detectives are investigating the case of John Duffy, aged 50 years, single, residing at Avondale, who was found lying on his back unconscious on the Central Wharf last night with a deep gash in his left temple. He was found by the gate keeper, who notified the police. The injured man was removed to the hospital. Interviewed by a detective after regaining consciousness Duffy was unable to account for his injuries. He said he had not been in the company of any men and did not remember having been assaulted.
