GUTHRIE—CHARLTON The wedding was solemnized quietly at the Anglican Church, Tuatapere, on Wednesday, April 23, of Molly, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs G. C. Charlton, of Tuatapere, to Leslie, second son of Mrs W. Guthrie, also of Tuatapere. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Mr Irwin, of Riverton. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a tailored suit of navy blue flecked tweed with hat and shoes to match. The bridegroom’s brother, Mr E. Guthrie, was best man. On their return from the north, Mr and Mrs L. Guthrie will live at Tuatapere. DENT—BYRNE The wedding was solemnized at St. Mary’s Basilica, Tyne street, recently of Neta Mary, eldest daughter of the late Mr G. Byrne and Thomas John, second son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Dent, Tihaka, Riverton. The Rev. Father Murphy performed the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by Mr E. O’Connell, wore a frock of white angel skin lace cut on slimming lines with a long sweeping train. The draped bodice featured a square neckline, finished with sprays of orange blossom. The long tight fitting sleeves, pointed over the hands, were trimmed with tiny buttons The hand embroidered white tulle veil, lent by Mrs Smith, Dunedin, sister of the bridegroom, was held in place by a halo coronet of orange blossom and fell in folds to form a second train. She carried a horseshoe shaped bouquet of arum lilies and asparagus fern with white satin streamers. Miss Lilyan Byrne, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid. She wore a frock of torquoise blue angel skin lace cut on similar lines to the bride’s frock, but with a round neck and a draping over the arms. The waistline was finished with a blue satin sash. She also wore a short coat of silver lame with bell sleeves. Her halo was of blue and silver and her shower bouquet was of white roSes, chrysanthemums and maidenhair fem with silver streamers.

The flower girl, Betty Sutton, wore an ankle length frilled Victorian frock of pink crepe de chine. A blue sash

defined the high waistline and her pink and blue halo matched her posy of pink and blue flowers. Mr C. Dent, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Tudor Lounge, where the guests were received by Mrs E. O’Connell and Mrs Dent, mother of the bridegroom. The former wore a brown tailored costume with a brown velour hat and a shoulder spray of autumn tinted flowers. She carried a posy of brown and lemon chrysanthemums. The latter wore a frock of navy floral georgette under a navy velour coat with a hat to match. She carried a spray of pink roses. Later in the day Mr and Mrs T. J. Dent left by the north express, the bride wearing a brown tailored costume with a cream blouse, a cream corded velvet hat and accessories to match. Mr and Mrs Dent have taken up residence at the Rocks, Riverton.
