AMALGATION OF LOCAL BODIES
INDIGNATION MEETING (United Press Association) TIMARU, April 23. At a largely attended indignation meeting the 1 ratepayers of the Levels County today carried a resolution that the meeting was of the opinion that there should be no interference with the existing counties in South Canterbury until the proposals of the Government for the amalgamation of local bodies have been translated into legislation and until the ratepayers of each county affected by the amalgamation have been consulted. A deputation was appointed to wait on the Levels Council to ask it to oppose amalgamation until a referendum of the ratepayers had been taken.
