NEW CONSTITUTION

AGRICULTURAL CLUBS’ ASSOCIATION Eight members attended a general meeting of the Southland Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs’ Association yesterday, when a proposed new constitution was put before those present. Mr B. P. Mansfield presided over the following members: Messrs D. Marshall, J. Robertson, T, Mathews, J. J. Blakie, E. Hargest and J. Milne and the secretary (Mr K. I. Robertson). It was agreed, after very little discussion, that the new constitution should be adopted for the new year. The first clause stated that the name of the association should be “The Southland Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs’ Association.” The following nominations were received for officials for the association’s section of the A. and P. Show: Marshal, Mr James Robertson; stewards, Messrs L. Evans (calves), A. Stuart, and E. Hargest (crops) and J. Robbie (pigs); judges, Messrs J. S. Brash (Friesians), R. Russell (Jerseys), D. Caldwell (Ayrshires), O. O. Mackley and H. Rowntree (pigs), A. Stuart and D. M. Smith (roots) and J. Robertson (calf records). A motion was carried that the Metropolitan A. and P. Association put before the Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. W. Lee Martin) a request for the free carriage of stock and crop exhibits of the Southland Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs’ Association by rail.
