CONFERENCE TO BE HELD (United Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, April 23. The representatives of county councils in Taranaki are to hold a conference to consider the proposals by the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. E. Parry) that the ten county councils in the province should be reduced to two, one in the north and one in the south. Following his meeting with the southern bodies yesterday the Minister today met North Taranaki local body representatives and placed before them his proposal for the amalgamation of the Clifton and Inglewood and the Egmont and Taranaki counties. The representatives subsequently discussed the proposals in committee and agreed to call a conference.

There was a small yarding for the Lumsden stock sale on Wednesday. The National Mortgage and Agency Co., Ltd., sold:—7l f. and f.m. ewes at 7/9, 105 fat lambs at 26/10, 473 wether lambs at 16/4, 381 ewe lambs at 21/5, 60 s.m. ewes at 26/-, 14 wethers at 12/9, 4 rams at 12/6, 4 oneshear Romney rams at 31gns; 10 oneshear Romney rams at 3gns, 5 at 2|gns.
