ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE The executive of the Southland Football Association met last night. Mr E. D. Dyer presided. The association’s. representatives to the meeting convened by the Mayor (Mr John Miller) to discuss the Coronation celebrations reported on what had taken place. A letter was received from the Corinthians Club stating that owing to difficulty in fielding a team, it had decided to withdraw from the competition for twelve rrionths. . . Regret was expressed at the decision of the club and it was hoped that it would soon be able to field a team again. .... j A regrade from senior to. junior ana a transfer from senior to junior were granted N. Morrison. A transfer was granted Buchan from Southern to Central. . , . .. . It. was decided that the association obtain from the New Zealand Council two footballs for the use of juniors. It was decided that each senior team should have its own ground and a ballot resulted as follows: —Central, Show grounds No. 1; Old Boys, Show grounds No. 2; Southern, Show grounds No. 3. The Thistle Club consented to take over the Biggar street ground. Mr R. Smith was unanimously appointed sole selector for 1937. The draw for today is as follows:— Senior (3 p.m.)—Mataura v. Southern, at Mataura: referee, Mr Wilson; Thistle v. Central, Show grounds; referee, Mr Creighton. Junior (1.30 p.m.)—Mataura v. Southern, at Mataura; Thistle v. Central, Show grounds; referee, Mr Dyer. TEAMS FOR TODAY MATAURA Senior—W. Gilchrist, G. Gilchrist, Bennett, Russell, Billington, Hannah, H. McKinnon, McCormack, McKinnon, Hardie. Emergencies: J.
