DRUNKEN ELEPHANT RUNS RIOT
EIGHT POTS OF BEER CONSUMED CAPE TOWN, April 21. A herd of elephants raided Chief Dandawa’s kraal in the Zambesi valley. One entered a hut and consumed eight pots of Kaffir beer. The natives, who took shelter in the bush, saw the elephant frisking about and then staggering after the herd. The elephant became so riotous that an adjacent village was destroyed by himself and his companions.
