ANNIVERSARIES OF PROVINCES

UNIFORM HOLIDAY FAVOURED

(Special to The Times) AUCKLAND, April 22. Agreement with the principle of a uniform Dominion Anniversary Day but disagreement with the date suggested by the Auckland Chamber of Commerce was expressed by the Associated Chambers of Commerce in a letter received by the Council of the Auckland Chamber. The Auckland Chamber had suggested that a uniform Anniversary Day be held on the last Monday in July, but the Associated Chambers favoured January 2. On the recommendation of the executive it was decided to thank the Associated Chambers for agreeing to the principle of a uniform holiday but to urge that the date be the last Monday in January, as it was thought that the adopion of January 2 was impracticable.
