HOLIDAY ON MONDAY
CITY SHOPS TO CLOSE Practically every retail establishment and wholesale warehouse in Invercargill will be closed on Monday in order to give their employees the picnic day as provided for in most of the awards. As a rule picnic day is observed early in the year, but owing to the epidemic it was not possible to hold it. The master bakers and pastry cooks have decided to close on Monday, and stock and station agents and their wool and grain stores will observe the holidacierical workers are also entitled to the picnic day, and most of the offices in the city will be closed, with the exception, perhaps, of solicitors and banks. . The master carriers and drivers yesterday decided to observe Monday as their picnic day, instead of tomorrow as previously decided upon. Tobacconists and hair dressers will also be closed.
