Wairio BADMINTON CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING Mr F. Keen presided at the annual meeting of the Wairio Badminton Club. The annual report stated that the club had had a successful year and very pleasant games had taken place. During the year a number of new members had joined and there was promise of a successful season this year. The year had commenced with a credit balance of £2 9/8 and when it was considered that hall charges had been increased and a number of new rackets purchased, the present credit of £1 2/10 would be thought satisfactory Friendly matches had been played against the Ohai Club, the latter club being successful in each match. The club doubles competition for trophies donated by Mr A. Genge, was won by Mrs H. C. Bell and Mr F. Keen. The open competition, held on closing night, was won by Miss Thomson and Mr B. O. Hannah, Ohai. The club thanks were extended to women members for the splendid support. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. The retiring president thanked all tor their support. The election of officers resulted: — Patron, Mr R. Donnelly (re-elected); president, Mr J. B. Cutt; vice-presi-dents, Miss G. Ford and Mr A. W. Sherman; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. E. Deady; committee, Mrs H. C. Bell, Miss M. Keen, Mr J. Cavanagh, with the president, vice-presidents and secretary; club captain, Mr W. E. Deady. Playing nights were fixed for Tuesdays and Thursdays.
