PLUNKET SOCIETY The annual report of the Balfour sub-branch of the Plunket Society states:—The work still progresses favourably under the able direction of Nurse White who visits Balfour every alternate Monday and who is pleased to advise mothers either personally or by phone. We were exceedingly fortunate to have the opportunity of meeting officers and members of the committee and a number of mothers at a special meeting held in June. Nurse White gave' a very helpful address on the correct feeding of the baby. During the year our usual canvass of the district was generously responded to and we wish to thank all who assisted. Since last annual meeting we have lost two of our committee members, Mesdames M. Rasmussen and J. Lynch. The opportunity was taken at a meeting of the society to present those two women with a small memento. On October 30 we held our annual children’s fancy dress party in the hall and this function was well attended. Mrs R. T. Wilson gave an interesting report of the general conference at the November meeting. The local delegates, Mesdames lyilson and McDonald, have attended the quarterly meetings at Lumsden and drily reported to the local committee. One sale was held in March. We would like to thank Mr A. P. Scobie for his services as auditor, the Press and all who have helped in any way during the year. The balance-sheet shows a credit

balance of £26 10/-, which is very satisfactory.
