TWO POSITIVE CASES

INFANTILE PARALYSIS (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 21. Two girls suffering from infantile paralysis are patients at the Auckland Hospital. One was admitted today from Mount Albert and the other, a resident of Green Lane, has been in hospital since the beginning of the week and was diagnosed today as a positive case. In addition two patients suspected of having infantile paralysis were admitted today for observation. One is a boy of five years, from Devonport, and the other a boy of 15 months, from Western Springs. As a precaution against infantile paralysis the Health Department has ordered the immediate closing of 101 schools in the Waikato district.

THREE FURTHER ADMISSIONS

GISBORNE, April 21.

A nine-year-old boy from Ruatoria was admitted to the Te Puia Hospital today suffering from infantile paralysis. This makes the twenty-second case in the East Cape health district, seven of which have occurred in the Gisborne Borough. The total was increased to 24 later in the morning when two cases from different parts of the borough, boys aged five and nine, were admitted to the hospital.

FIRST CASE IN WAIHI DISTRICT

WAIHI, April 21. The first case of infantile paralysis in this district is reported from Waihi Plains. The patient is a girl aged ten, who has been attending the Waima School. She has . been sent to the Thames Hospital.

TWO CASES DIAGNOSED AS POSITIVE

PALMERSTON NORTH, April 21.

Two suspected cases of infantile paralysis, a boy of seven from Levin, and a boy of two and a half from Feilding, admitted to Palmerston North Hospital at the week-end, have now been diagnosed as positive, but mild cases. The total is seventeen positive cases from the district now in hospital, including only one from the city.
