THE WEATHER CLOUDY TO OVERCAST

(Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, April 20. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland, as issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Moderate to strong winds, between north and west. Weather cloudy to overcast, and scattered rains probable. Temperature moderate. Seas rather rough to rough about Foveaux Strait; elsewhere moderate. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Weather for the most part cloudy to overcast and, in places, misty. Rain probable over the northern half of the North Island and the western and southern portions of the South. Later rain becoming more widespread, with some heavy falls. Temperatures moderate to mild. General Situation.—The pressure is low over the whole of the Tasman Sea and New Zealand areas, a cyclone being located to the north-west and a series of westerly depressions extending from South-Eastern Australia on to the South Island. An anti-cyclone still covers the greater part of Australia. Winds.—North-easterly to northerly, light to moderate mainly, but becoming strong in exposed positions, especially over the northern half of the North Island and the southern portion of the South. Seas.—New Zealand 'waters, rather rough to rough north of East Cape and south of Dunedin, elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea, moderate to strong easterly winds in the northern portion and northerlies to westerlies in the southern portion. Seas moderate to rather rough.
