DISTRIBUTION OF £40,000
FRUIT GROWERS IN NELSON DISTRICT (United Press Association) NELSON, April 20. Representations have been made to the Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. W. Lee Martin), who is visiting the Nelson district, about the distribution of the £40,000 allocated by the Government to assist fruit growers who sell their fruit on the local markets.
A deputation which represented local growers suggested that the £40.000 should be distributed on a flat basis of 6d a case on all fruit sold locally. The Minister said he would go into the matter with his departmental officers and would give the request every consideration.
