(From The Southland Times) APRIL 6, 1887 Change of Quarters.—The East Invercargill Borough Council will in future hold their meetings in the Assembly Rooms, Elies road (next to the private residence of Mr M. Hughes) instead of in Jackson’s schoolhouse as heretofore.
The Great Conference. —We publish this morning a fragmentary resume of Lord Salisbury’s speech at the opening of the Imperial Conference in London. The message reached us in such a mangled condition that with all our experience we had to give it up and present only such sentences as were intelligible. As the world is going much after prize puzzles just now we feel strongly tempted to give our readers a telegraphic Press message verbatim some of these mornings to whet their intellects on.
